No doubt you have questions. Here are the answers to those I’m asked most often.

Who does Your Psychology Centre treat?

I work across the whole lifespan and am qualified to support children, adolescents, adults and families.

Where are your offices?

I am based in Uxbridge, Ontario - 70km north of Toronto. My Office address is 2 Campbell Drive. Suite 307B. Uxbridge, ON. L9P 1H6. Tel. 647 918 9355

WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS OF BUSINESS?

Appointments are available Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.

How long is the waiting list?

This varies depending on how many clients I’m currently seeing, so drop me a line at hello@yourpsychologycentre.ca and I’ll let you know how soon we can start working together.

How do I book?

Before scheduling your first appointment, I’ll need to ask you a few questions which will help determine your needs and how I can best service them. Simply get in touch at hello@yourpsychologycentre.ca and I’ll let you know the information I require to get the ball rolling.

How long is an appointment?

Each session lasts 50 minutes.

How much do appointments cost?

My current rate is $240 per 50-minute session. Payment via e-transfer, credit card or cash is collected following your appointment and is in accordance with the CPA (Canadian Psychological Association).

cAncellation policy:

I require a full 24 hours notice for the cancellation of an appointment. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged the full rate of the session regardless of the reason, including for no-shows. It is also clients’ responsibility to be on time for sessions. Regardless of when the client arrives, sessions will need to end at the originally defined end-time.

Will my appointment be covered by health insurance?

Some health insurance policies cover the cost of services. Contact your insurance company directly to find out if that is the case for you - or whether you can change your plan before starting treatment. They will be able to tell you exactly what is covered (maximum number of sessions etc) and what you need to provide.

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

No referral is required to initiate services. Some health insurance companies require a referral from the family doctor in order to provide cover, so give your insurance company a call to find out.

do you provide psychoeducational assessments?

I do not currently offer psychoeducational assessments. I do complete a comprehensive assessment so that we have a better understanding of your presenting challenges and goals.

Why don’t Psychologists work one-to-one with multiple family members?

To make this easier to answer, let me explain that this question applies to individual psychotherapy and not to family therapy. When I am working with a family, the ‘family’ is the client and the work and goals are developed together’. Individual psychotherapy is a commitment to one person. Part of the process is the development of rapport and trust and while meeting other family members may be beneficial during the early information-gathering days, the commitment remains with the individual client. Working with a second individual (e.g. spouse, sibling, child) may compromise both relationships if new and potentially controversial knowledge emerges that places the therapist ‘in the middle’. A therapist trying to treat multiple family members individually is termed a ‘dual relationship’ and this is discouraged by most professional governing boards.

How long does treatment last?

Treatment length is difficult to determine and depends on a number of individual factors. Rest assured I am committed to delivering evidence-based treatments that have been proven effective.
